The project “Porto in a Wheelchair – the thermal and hygrometric comfort in Porto, from the perspective of a disabled person” (52) was one of the wining projects from the concourse of Multidisciplinary Projects of the University of Porto in 2010, financed by the Santander Totta bank and developed under the scope of the Project “Risks for human health caused by heat waves and cold spells in the area of Porto”.
Its 3 main goals were:
1. To characterize some outdoor climatic contexts in the lived spaces where the student moved on his wheelchair;
2. To characterize some indoor climatic contexts lived at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, as well as in public transports (metro and bus) as well as in shopping centers;
3. To demonstrate the importance of GIS towards the selection of explanatory variables for outdoor and indoor thermal comfort.
